Job Description

Job Purpose

. To help plan and implement the provision of good quality care.

. To assist clients to enable them to live independently in their own home, regardless of age or disability and to achieve their optimum level of mental and physical function.       The emphasis should be on what can be done rather than what cannot.

. To ensure clients retain as much of their dignity and individuality as possible as well as being involved in the general activities of the service.



. Ensure all elements of the care plan are met and that the needs of the client are clearly understood.

. Provide appropriate stimulation and encouragement to help the client live independently in their own home.

. Conduct of homecare worker must be caring and professional at all times.

. Undertake training/learning as such needs are identified.  Maintain and improve learning and competence in the role of homecare worker.  To continue with personal professional developement.

. Support training and shadowing of junior and new staff members.

. Attend all staff meetings when possible

.  Assist with medication as per company policy

. Personal care - including helping in and out of bed, washing dressing, feeding, toileting and personal hygiene as requested

. Making contact - where necessary, assisting clients to contact GP or other involved agencies e.g District nurse or Social worker

. Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with clients personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists between worker and client.

. Respite care services  - where necessary,  sitting with the client to allow their carer time to shop, visit friends and relatives and to have time to themselves with peace of mind their relative is being well cared for.

. Clean and maintain equipment used by clients i.e wheelchair, hoist, hearing aid, spectacles etc

. Notify the care coordinator immediately or the on-call if you are unable to work (you must phone in personally).  Weekly contact must be maintained and the office must be notified as soon as you are fit to return to work.

. Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of work is not divulged to a third party.  (see confidentiality policy)

. Understand and ensure the implementaion of the Health and Safety policy

. Report any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or anything else which may be a potential hazard

. Ensure the security of the clients home is maintined at all times

. Ensure that hours and timesheets are adhered to

. Completed timesheets and mileage sheets must be forwarded to the appropriate office within the required time

. Give at least 2 weeks notice for holiday requests

. Encourage and promote team working within Rainbow Services (UK) Ltd

. Promote a positive personal/professional profile of the service within the local community

. To adhere to all Rainbow Services (UK) Ltd Polices and Procedures

. Promote and ensure the good reputation of Rainbow Services (UK) Ltd

. To accept change will be necessary from time to time to meet the changing needs of the client
