Job Description

WISE Youth are looking for a partt ime Detached Youth Worker/20hrs per week

Purpose of the Post

To develop and deliver high quality detached work with young peoplethrough an agreed programmeof work that facilitates their participation in local provisions,current issues and decision making by creating opportunities for their personal,social and educational development

Duties and Responsibilities (Specific)

Engage in and be responsible for the delivery of the Youth Work programme with 7-18 years during a working session ensuring that the programme responds to young people's needs,supports the 5 Outcomes of Every Child Matters and includes opportunities for young people to gain an accredited learning outcome.

To work alongside partner agencies in the community,in order to maximise contact with young people engaed in anti-social behaviour and related youth disorder in identified areas,particularly those young people who are not currently assesing service interventions.

To keep accurate and up to date records of work undertaken and outcomes achieved and undertake needs led intervention for young people engaged in anti-social behaviour and related disorder and where appropriate to refer them on to other services

To work in a range of settings this include youth club,streets and estates,youth hubs,schools and colleges. To develop and deliver positive activities and structured youth programmes and provide opportunities for young people to gain recorded and accredited outcomes.

Provide information and advice to the families of young people either through home visits or through events within a community or educational setting and where appropriate undertake interventions with parents and young people together

Education and Experience: Professional qualification in youth and community work,Level 2 Youth worker or relevant qualification in social work or education.

Candidates must have significant experience of working with young people on a one to one basis and in a detached youth working setting in a diverse multicultural inner city environment.Candidates must have experience of collecting,recording and maintaining information
